If you’re looking for a great new duck breast recipe, give this one a try. It’s easy to prepare, and the slow cooker does most of the work. And you end up with great tasting, tender meat that you can add to your stash of wild duck breast recipes.
Ingredients
- 6 medium, skinless duck breasts
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 2 small oranges (peeled and cut into 1/2 inch pieces)
- 1 medium apple (cut into half inch pieces)
- 1 medium onion (cut into eighths)
- 1 can (6 oz) frozen orange juice concentrate
Instructions
- Since this is a slow cooker duck recipe, you’ll first lay your duck breasts at the bottom of a slow cooker (make sure you’re slow cooker heats from the bottom and sides).
- Sprinkle your salt and pepper over the duck breasts.
- Place your apple, oranges, and onion on top.
- Thaw your frozen orange juice concentrate and pour it in.
- Cover and set your slow cooker to low heat setting. Let cook for 8 to 10 hours, or until duck is tender.
- Remove duck from slow cooker and discard fruit/onion mixture.
- Enjoy!
My Thoughts On This Duck Breast Recipe
If you enjoy anything with a citrus flavor, I’d highly recommend this slow cooker duck recipe. (Don’t like citrus flavor? Check out our other duck recipe, Asian Duck Wraps).
While most wild duck breast recipes have a distinct flavor, wild duck breast à l’orange came out tasting more like roast beef. Good flavor, easy preparation, and simple. This recipe is a keeper for sure.
