Simple to make and easy to eat, pan seared venison steak gyros are an easy addition to any family dinner. All the ingredients are available at the local grocery store, except for the venison, which is supplied by you of course.

Ingredients For Pan Fried Venison Steak Gyros
Marinade
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1½ tbsp ground cumin
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp oregano
- 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 2 tsp dried marjoram
- 2 tsp ground dried rosemary
- Salt and pepper to taste
Gyros
- 3 lbs venison (cut into ¼ inch thick strips. Need venison? Check out D’Artagnan for quality meats)
- 8 pieces pita bread (warmed)
- 8 oz chopped lettuce
- 1 red onion (diced)
- 3 medium-sized roma tomatoes (sliced)
- 6 oz. feta cheese
- 24 tbsp tzatziki sauce
- 16 tbsp hummus
Instructions For Pan Fried Venison Steak Gyros
- Mix olive oil, cumin, garlic, oregano, red wine vinegar, marjoram, rosemary, salt, and pepper together in bag.
- Add venison strips and toss until well coated in seasonings.
- Let venison marinate in refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Cook venison in skillet over medium-high heat until brown on the outside and no pink remaining inside (about 6-8 minutes).
- Warm pita bread and cover with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions.
- Place venison strips on pita bread.
- Cover venison in feta cheese, tzatziki sauce, and hummus.
- Enjoy!
Concluding Thoughts
My first try at these Pan Fried Venison Gyros was a success. Everyone thought they were delicious, and although I couldn’t find tzatziki sauce and hummus individually at the grocery store, I did find several salad dressings that were a mix of both sauces which worked perfectly.
